Boston Celtics suspend head coach Ime Udoka for upcoming season

The Boston Celtics suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season, citing “violations of team policies.”

The suspension, efficient instantly, comes after experiences Udoka was in a consensual intimate relationship with a lady employed by the franchise.

In a statement to ESPN, Udoka apologized and stated he accepted the workforce’s choice.

Udoka has coached the Celtics for one season, main the group since former head coach Brad Stevens left the function to develop into president of basketball operations. He oversaw the groups Eastern Conference championship and a failed NBA Finals bid in opposition to the Golden State Warriors.

The Celtics have tapped assistant coach Joe Mazzulla to function interim head coach, ESPN reported, citing sources. The workforce’s high assistant coach, Will Hardy, left the workforce in June for a head teaching job with the Utah Jazz.
